Woom-fever is spreading. After nearly two years of living outside of Poland, we were a bit shocked when we returned. The number of children riding woom bikes has grown dramatically. And that’s great! It means we increasingly value build quality and our kids’ comfort. Even more importantly, it shows that a bike can become a daily means of transportation, not just a weekend toy for riding around the neighborhood.

The Touring woom EXPLORE
Bikes are with us practically all the time. We use them not only for school runs, commuting to work, or shopping. They’ve also become part of our family adventures — like the time we rode from Mielno to Kołobrzeg and back. Woom also understands that not all kids ride bikes just to school or around the block. Some — like ours — see biking as something more: adventure, freedom, the joy of covering longer distances, exploring forests and light mountain trails. For us, any time is a good time to ride. And every free day is a chance to think, “Where can we take the bikes today and spend some time outside?” For kids like this — and their parents — woom created the touring version of its most popular model: the woom 4 EXPLORE.

Differences between woom GO and EXPLORE
200 PLN — that’s the price difference between these two models in woom’s official pricing. So what do you get for this slightly higher price with the woom EXPLORE?

The biggest difference? Disc brakes. For a child who rides on varied terrain, often downhill and sometimes in the wet, it’s a real gamechanger. Disc brakes work smoothly, efficiently, and regardless of conditions — and we have greater peace of mind knowing they’ll stop in time if needed. Disc brakes typically mean extra weight. But surprise: the EXPLORE is only 200 g heavier than the GO version. These weight-saving efforts are visible at first glance. The mudguard mounting system was changed to a “click” system, which in our opinion is also the bike’s biggest drawback. Several times Basia, while trying to park the bike in a stand, bumped the mudguard and it popped off.

Another difference: the EXPLORE has wider, knobbier tires that grip well on gravel, grass, and rocks. Compared to the standard woom, the EXPLORE rides with more confidence, even when the terrain gets wild. It’s also rack-ready — perfect for longer trips. And on shorter rides to school, Basia’s favorite stuffed animal always gets the place of honor on the rear rack.

Who is the woom EXPLORE for?
For kids who ride a lot. Plain and simple. For kids who love bikepacking with their parents, riding downhill on gravel paths, exploring the outdoors, and forest trails. If your child, like ours, asks every day if they can go biking — this is a woom worth considering.

EXPLORE for Experienced Little Cyclists
The EXPLORE line starts with 20-inch wheels, which already tells us something important about the brand: it’s a bike for kids who know what they’re doing. They’re confident enough to handle more demanding terrain and to make the most of the bike’s capabilities. And they’ll absolutely love it.

But… that doesn’t mean it’s not fit for the city!
This was actually the biggest surprise for us: the EXPLORE also works brilliantly as an everyday city bike. Comfortable geometry, a lightweight frame, responsive handling — it holds up great in urban settings. And the price difference compared to the classic woom 4 isn’t huge. Simply put: if your child rides often and loves biking, it’s definitely worth spending a bit more — even if they mostly stick to the pavement.
